Wireless Notebook Network Card Installation: An Overview

Don't lag behind when the rest of the world is taking advantage of the wireless network card. To gain freedom that you need around your office or home, opt for a wireless notebook network card installation. This would help you store multiple wireless network settings for school, work, home or any other setup, through an easy to use profile manager.

The installation of a wireless notebook network card is extremely easy. You can get started within a few minutes. The installation of the card can be done in three easy steps. The first step involves the installation of the software. The card would not operate until you install the software first. For the second step, you must plug the Card into your laptop. The last step is to let Windows finish with the installation process of the card.

For the installation of the software and the driver, you must insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive of your notebook. The wireless notebook network card setup utility screen would then appear automatically on the screen. If the screen doesn't appear within fifteen to twenty seconds, select the CD-ROM drive tab. Then double click on the folder named 'Files' and then on the 'start.exe' icon.

Next, drag your mouse over the 'Install' button and select 'Click here' to start with the software installation. As the installer starts, you will be able to see the progress of the program on your desktop screen. You can now proceed to the next step. Click Next when the introduction screen appears, to continue with the cards installation.

After the installation of the software is complete, a screen would prompt you to click Finish. Then, you would either be asked to restart the notebook (if you are using Windows98SE/Me) or the message: ''You can plug in your WLAN adapter now ''will appear.

After this, insert the Card into your notebooks' CardBus slot firmly, label side up. After you have done this, it would detect the newly installed hardware. Once the wireless notebook network card is installed completely and you have restarted the notebook, the wireless network utility icon would appear on the screen of your desktop. Just double click on this icon to open the monitor utility.

A small icon would then appear in the bottom right corner of your system tray. This would be your shortcut to the wireless network monitor. It would also indicate the status of your connection. If a green light is switched on, then you are connected to a wireless network. But if a red light is on, then no connection to a wireless network exists.

To carry out the wireless notebook network card installation, it is definitely very important to follow these tips. Happy installing!
